LM- LCP-08 Load Cell Protector

Reduce equipment damage and costly down time.  Protect your sensitive and valuable load cells and weighing systems from transient surge events with the Lightning Master load cell protector.

Materials handling and vehicle scales are particularly vulnerable to the ravishes of lightning.  The Lightning Master Load Cell Protector “clamps” transients before they reach sensitive equipment.  After a transient passes, it automatically returns to a passive state, awaiting the next transient.

These surge suppressors install easily at load cells, summing boxes and control computers, protecting both four and six wire systems.  They work on both digital and analog systems, and do not affect scale system calibration.  Surge suppressor geometry combines a low-impedance transient (surge) path through surge suppression elements with a high impedance transient path to the device under protection.

The surge suppressors should be located as close as possible to the protected devices.  Ground conductors should be short.  No dedicated grounding system is required.  The surge suppressor grounds directly to the structure at the load cell or to the computer equipment ground.

The screen (drain) wire must be connected to the surge suppressor at both ends.  Normally, the shield wire is “floated” at the field (transmitter) end to prevent a ground loop.  However, the surge suppressor provides a mode of suppression between the shield wire and ground, preventing a ground loop yet providing protection during a transient event.
